Springtime is here and the weather is finally warming up! At Doggie Detail, we want to know which dog-friendly parks you and your dog like the best in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver area! What makes a great dog park in your opinion? A private setting with lots of trees? Big open spaces to play fetch? Lots of interaction with other dog owners?

This contest is open to all residents of BC, Canada (age 18+). Doggie Detail Pet Services offers dog waste removal services for a growing number of cities in the BC Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Current customers are welcome to enter this giveaway; however, you do not need to be a customer to enter. The contest will close on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 10pm (PST). The winner will be announced on this post and contacted by email. The winning comment will be chosen using random.org.

I like Dogwood park in South Surrey as there are a lot of trails and our lab likes the mud. (Tweeted too!)

I like Robert Burnaby Park as it’s fairly close by.
Derby Reach in Langley Township. Big field with trees and lots of brush along the sides. Also a small beach area for swimming. Spring and Summer evenings will see up to 30 dogs of all breads romping around at one time.
I don’t know if it’s considered an official “dog park” but going to Sunshine Hills in ND is a good spot with an open field and it also has a small forest which is great!

I love bruce pit in ottawa my doggies love the open no fence space they run but always come back however if you have a runner who does not do well on recall i do not recomend it but its great

I love the SunOka dog beach in Summerland BC, not in the lower mainland but BC nonetheless. Our dog passed away this winter after 10.5 great years, we are concidering another pet in the future, maybe this win would be the encouragement to make a new fuzzy friend.

Dogwood Park is definately great, but Brookswood in Langley is also great for the exercise too (both the dogs and the owner!). Lots of open space and generally a good size group of dogs to play along.
Cate’s park has a great off leash area!

We go to th park in Saskatoon that is at the end of Broadway. Love going there because there is always dogs for my girl to play with. She was a puppy rescued from a puppy mill and my husband and I love to spoil her since the adoption

The BEST dog park is in West Vancouver at Ambleside Beach. Our furkid loves it because there are lots of playmates, it’s sand (which for some reason she likes to role around in), and if you have a swimmer it is right on the water–labs love it.
Another dog park is in Kitsilano near Vanier Park/Maritime Museum. This one is right on the water/beach and there are always lots of dogs and really friendly people. There is a portion that is grass as well. Cheers.

It would have to be Lewis Park in Courtenay. The trees provide some wonderful shade, you can watch the eagles fly in and out of their nest and the occassional seal catch a fish in the river.
Buntzen Lake off leash dog gated area, the rest of the trails it’s on leash. A must try for the Burbonites.
I agree 100% , but at times the parking can be a zoo. They supply waste bags and a place to dispose of it. Never have seen a dog fight as all the dogs are too busy having fun.
We go to Heritage Part in Mission. There are 2 areas, 1 for people and the other is ours. These areas are separated by a creek, for fresh water for the dogs. The dog area is a big field, that has been measured at 1 km per loop.There are a lot of dogs at all times of the day and friendly people with them.
Railway Trail (unofficial dog park) is also a wonderful place to go. It is on the border between Maple Ridge and Mission, off Hwy 7 at Hayward Lake. There is a lovely pathway along the side of the lake and places where the dogs can swim. – Also there is Hayward Lake Dog Park. Dogs have to be on leash for about a 15 minute walk through the people side of the park. There are picnic tables at this areas. Outhouses at both areas.
Its too bad Abbotsford doesn’t have a proper fenced safe dog park…so I go over to Aldergrove and they have done a great job…good parking lot, bulletin board, well fenced with good gates..separated into two areas…one is especially for the little dogs. A proper waste place to deposit doggi-do,a portable washroom, picnic tables and some shade trees. The dogs love it and the humans are comfortable too. ‘Yeah’ for Aldergrove !!! M
I’ve been looking for this park. Where is it?
I have a 7-yr old boxer who really does not well with other dogs. I think this Aldergrove area is fenced and no other dogs allowed until you are done?
